The Spring Picnic

On Sunday the 9th of September Save Globe Wilkins hosted a community picnic in Marrickville Park to protest Globe’s closure. Over 800 people attended, an amazing show of support from past, current and future Globe families, as well as Wilkins Public School families, concerned citizens, politicians and early childhood education groups and researchers.

MPs Jo Haylen and Jenny Leong, as well as Mayor Darcy Byrne and Councillor Tom Kiat spoke to the crowd, expressing their solidarity with the Globe Wilkins community.

The day was a great success, with a jumping castle, food truck, inflatable minion, giant cake stall, fire engine, raffle and countless art and craft activities for the children, managed on the day by the Globe educators.

The inner west community remains informed of the situation that Globe Wilkins Preschool finds itself in and there is mass concern regarding Globe’s closure.
